Ballistic Shield Familiarization-One-day training designed to teach the basics of the ballistic shield and expose students to various real-world scenarios utilizing shields.
Ballistic Shield Operator course- Three-day operator course will cover firearm fundamentals, moving with a shield in a team setting, breaching with a shield, active shooter response, high-risk vehicle encounters, hostage rescue, and search warrant service considerations. Upon successful completion of training, operators will be certified through Gray Matter Solutions. Students are required to pass shooting and scenario-based qualifications.
Ballistic Shield Operator Instructor course- Four-day instructor course will cover all the topics mentioned in the Operator course. Additionally, this course will cover how to implement and maintain a ballistic shield program and how to teach other operators to use the GMS system. To attend the instructor course students must be a firearm instructor at their department.
GMS understands that all Law Enforcement agencies aren't created equally. Staffing, budget, and mission set vary dramatically across the nation. With that in my mind GMS can curtail training to suit the needs of specific departments. We have trained officers ranging from tier 1 SWAT operators/EOD to school resource officers and everything in between.
